When I first heard of NBC’s new game show It’s Worth What?, I thought it was a Price is Right clone, (“remake”), however as it turns out, this new series focuses more on the worth of things as opposed to the retail value. That’s certainly a notable difference, and while I don’t think that’ll make this game-show any easier for me to play along from my living room than The Price is Right was, it does sound intriguing.

Here’s NBC’s description for the series.

It’s Worth What? is a game show that taps into America’s curiosity for cost and value, from the hidden gems found in one's attic to some of the most exotic valuables from around the globe. A pair of contestants are taken through a series of challenges that escalate in level of difficulty, tasking the contestants with discerning the price of the items in each round. If they successfully complete the challenges, contestants can win up to $1 million.

By that, I’m guessing that instead of trying to guess the combined total retail value of a ride-on lawnmower, a Jacuzzi and an outdoor grill, the contestants might be challenged to guess the value of something that may be an antique or just an old piece of junk. As to the format and the specifics on how the game will work, NBC’s not offering up much yet, however there is a premiere date.

On board to host is comedian Cedric “The Entertainer” of The Steve Harvey Show and The Original Kings of Comedy and NBC announced today that the series will premiere on July 12th.
