Nathan Fillion's Castle Gets A Graphic Novel Adaptation

It happened! Nathan Fillion will be a in a comic book adaptation... well, kind of anyway. It's sad to see that his Two Guys and a Girl co-star Ryan Reynolds gets to be the mouth of the merc as Deadpool AND wield the power ring as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern while Fillion's character's character gets his own comic book. Yes. Marvel and ABC are collaborating on a comic book adaptation NOT of the show Castle, but of Derrick Storm, the character that made Fillion's Castle famous. I can't hear Derrick Storm without thinking about Agent Michael Scarn but that's beside the point.

In a suitably silly press release from Marvel, they even provided us a quote from the fictional author himself, “I am honored and humbled to see Derrick Storm join the ranks of some of the greatest heroes of all-time,” said Richard Castle. “Being a part of the Marvel family is a childhood fantasy come true for me.”

To be fair, they scraped together a pretty talented group of comic book artists to craft this adaptation. C:RCDS is co-written by (the) Brian Michael Bendis and Kelly Sue DeConnick with Lan Medina of Fables fame doing the pencils (cover art by Carlo Pagulayan). If you watched tonight's Season Finale, Knockout, you already got your first glimpse of the cover but, just in case you missed it, we've got it right here...

At least he got to voice Hal Jordan in Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. There's always that. Castle stars Nathan Fillion as Richard Castle and Stana Katic as NYPD Detective Kate Beckett. It airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Castle: Richard Castle's Deadly Storm. A Derrick Storm Mystery (yes, that is what it is called), a 112 page hardcover edition, will be in bookstores everywhere on September 28th, 2011.
