Sarah Palin To Star In Alaska Themed Reality Show

Word is officially in. Sarah Palin’s getting her own reality show! Discovery Communications signed a deal with the former governor of Alaska for her to star in a series centering on the 49th state.

Go ahead and laugh it off but from the sound of it, this won’t be just another random cable reality show. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Mark Burnett is set to produce the eight-episode series. Burnett’s known for some other reality shows you may have heard of, including Survivor and The Apprentice.

The series will follow Palin as she gives viewers a tour of the great state of Alaska. As for where Discovery plans on airing it, it looks as though TLC will be the home for the series.

"TLC is grounded in great storytelling, strong characters, and passionate audiences drawn to extraordinary people doing extraordinary things," said Eileen O'Neill, president and general manager, TLC. "We are confident 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' will be another compelling television event."

I’m thinking the audience will be split (at first anyway) between people tuning in to look for more ways to poke fun at Palin, Palin supporters and people interested in learning more about Alaska.

TLC’s known for hosting a number of unscripted shows, including Jon and Kate Plus Eight, Little People, Big World and one of my personal favorites, Cake Boss.
