It doesn’t feel like very long ago that I was sitting in a huge room at Comic Con, surrounded by enthusiastic fans, watching the big trailer for the second season of The Walking Dead. And now, months later, Season 2 has come to a close. How time flies. Not everyone survived the season, and the season certainly had some excellent moments. And now fans can celebrate the fact that the series scored big ratings for its final episode.

A whopping 9 million viewers tuned in for the second season finale of The Walking Dead last night. This makes it the series’ highest rated episode, with a 5.8 HH rating. The zombie-drama is also the #1 drama series in basic cable history among adults & men 18-34, adults & men 18-49, and adults & men 25-54. When including the 11:30 p.m. airing, 10.5 million viewers in total tuned in to watch Season 2 last night.

Here’s how the numbers broke down.
9pm airing – 5.8 HH rating with 9 million viewers: +41%/+51% vs. Season 1 Finale
