Seth Meyers is a pretty good interview, but last night he stepped away from the desk to bring us a brand new “Second Chance Theater” sketch, this time bringing in Jason Sudeikis to highlight an SNL segment that never made it to the live show. Check it out, below.

In the sketch, Jason Sudeikis plays a juggler named Dan who visits a coffee shop in order to check up on his corkboard ad. He soon realizes that no one has pulled a tab from his flyer. He's momentarily sad about it, but then begins pitching to all of the other people sitting in the coffee shop. At one point during the sketch, the barista, played by John Lutz, tries to tell Dan he smells and flubs, but he admirably recovers and the sketch gets plenty of extra ad-libbing in the second half.

Running at more than 10 minutes with Seth Meyers' intro, the “Juggling Flyer” sketch is a little long, but it’s still worth watching, and it’s even cooler because it gives us an idea of what the writing team and acting team on the series is up against when they are trying to create a show on a deadline. Sometimes sketches are really funny, but they just might be a little too long, a little too complex or a little too weird to air “live from New York.” A lot of times, we never hear about these sketches, but thanks to Meyers, we are able to see what they could have been (and in some cases, why they were cut initially). It’s pretty cool from a historical perspective.

Seth Meyers had a fabulous and lengthy career on Saturday Night Live before he began hosting Late Night with Seth Meyers. His show is even executive produced by SNL mastermind Lorne Michaels. But despite his connections to the sketch series, he has striven to avoid making his late night program too much like his alma mater. Still, he often has former Saturday Night Live stars on Late Night, including Bill Hader, who has popped up on the show to explain secrets about his SNL character Stefon and more.

In addition, this isn’t the first time that Late Night with Seth Meyers has done the “Second Chance Theater” sketch. A while back, we also saw the show release “Jennjamin Franklin,” featuring Will Forte, Jason Sudeikis, Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen.

NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET.
