Whether Or Not Jon Snow Is Dead, According To Emilia Clarke

The Game of Thrones Season 5 finale aired on HBO just a short time ago, leaving viewers with a huge cliffhanger related to none other than Jon Snow. When last we saw our beleaguered hero, he was lured out of camp and stabbed by a slew of members of the Night’s Watch. When last we left him, he had fallen to the ground and was covered in blood, staring at the sky. In fact, he looked pretty damn dead, but recently actress Emilia Clarke says there’s more hope for Jon Snow than may meet the eye.

If I had to bet, I'd say it’s like a 50/50 chance mean, there's some helpful people there who could bring him on back to life. But if it means that I'm that much closer to getting to the Throne, then hey, okay.

The actress, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the hit fantasy series, recently spoke with MTV about the fateful Season 5 finale, admitting that creators Dan Weiss and David Benioff haven’t made her privy to all of the details. She does say “there’s a reason why” Jon was stabbed on the series, though.

Looking forward, there’s a reason why, they know that I can’t lie very well, so I can honestly say I have no idea what’s happening, I have know idea what’s gonna happen.

Her words are quite a bit different and more encouraging than those from fellow actor Kit Harington, who spoke about his character Jon Snow’s stabbing after the finale aired. Following the startling Game of Thrones episode, Harington stated that the creators told him he is “definitely dead” and “not coming back next season.” Regardless of those statements and the fact that Harington has cut his hair for the first time since he signed the Game of Thrones contract binding him to the hairdo, there has been rampant speculation that Jon Snow will be returning when Season 6 hits the schedule.

That speculation has included everything from Melisandre’s possible influence on the body to the theory that he could be a legendary figure from R’hllor lore. There are numerous ways to bring people back from the dead in the Song of Ice and Fire mythology, and while people connected to Game of Thrones are all saying it’s the end of Jon Snow, they obviously wouldn’t be telling us if there was a plan to have the character emerge from the dead, either.

On the bright side, Game of Thrones is already renewed for next season, and work has already begun on Season 6. While it will still be a long, long time before we get new episodes of the hit show, there should be plenty of juicy tidbits related to the new episodes in the meantime. In fact, here’s what we know so far about the upcoming episodes.
