Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Screenshots Fight Gorilla Cyborgs

To commemorate Comic Con, Konami has released a new set of screenshots for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. They show cyborg ninja Raiden fighting foes just as teched out as he is.

Revengeance takes place after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4. Raiden has been hired by a PMC to help clean up a country in the wake of a civil war. However, his job quickly becomes more violent than intended when an army of cyborgs invades.

One of the upsides to having robotic enemies is that you can be as creative as you want. There's only so much you can do to complicate human enemies. You're limited in variety with them. However, with cyborgs, all bets are off. Want to make them look like big gorillas? No sweat.

Platinum Games took over the development duties from Kojima Productions and have brought the project further into the action genre. As a result, it will not fit neatly in our previous expectations of a Metal Gear Solid game. However, I'm expecting it to occupy some satisfying middle point between MGS orthodoxy and Platinum Games' other efforts like Bayonetta and Vanquish.
