NBA Jam Wii Gameplay Trailer Arrives

Since NBA Jam first hit consoles in the nineties, video game technology's obviously advanced quite a bit. The first gameplay trailer for EA Sports' new NBA Jam shows that they'll be retaining the classic look of the series, though.

For starters, EA's opted to keep the sideline camera from the original. All of the players have slightly oversized heads too, so as to make them more easily identifiable. While the court itself is 3D, the characters have a flat, paper doll look to them - a nod to the game's 2D roots, perhaps?

The player emotions are an interesting touch. The faces seem to switch between different still photos depending on the situation. For example, the player will grit his teeth when he gets knocked over. It's kind of like how Saddam Hussein's face was animated in South Park.

The new NBA Jam will be available later this year on the Wii.
