Rayman Legends Demo Is Wii U Exclusive

Ubisoft revealed this weekend that they're preparing a demo for Rayman Legends that will be exclusively available for the Wii U. This demo seems to be an effort to placate Wii U owners frustrated by the recent delay.

Legends was first announced as a Wii U exclusive. However, this week Ubisoft announced that the game is now coming PS3 and Xbox 360 as well in an effort to "broaden" the audience. Additionally, they delayed the game from late February to September.

"We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game," Ubisoft said on their Facebook page. They added that the exclusive demo for Wii U will be coming "soon."

The demo is a nice gesture but I doubt it's going to soothe many Wii U fans. It doesn't erase the fact that the game's coming out seven months later than expected. What's more, some of these gamers bought a Wii U just to play Legends. It has to sting to find out that the game's going to be released on other consoles as well, and that those other versions of the game are causing a delay to the Wii U edition.

Legends is a direct sequel to Rayman Origins. Multiple players jump and fight their way through levels. Players can take on the role of Rayman, Globox, the Teensies and new character Barbara. Four players use Wiimotes to control the main characters, while a fifth uses the GamePad to assist these other players. It's not clear how the gameplay will be adapted for Xbox 360 and PS3.
