Futuremark Studios' upcoming tower defense game has finally received some concrete details regarding its release date and price-point for PC, Mac and iPad. Unfortunately, Xbox 360 gamers will have to wait a little longer for an official price and release date.
As stated in the press release...
Unstoppable Gorg is a lovingly crafted homage to vintage sci-fi films from the 1950s. Flying saucers, rubbery aliens, dodgy effects, it's got them all. The game's story scenes were shot on film using models, miniatures and live action actors and then edited together with genuine archive footage to create a classic sci-fi experience that is out of this world.
Futuremark really outdid themselves with Unstoppable Gorg, at least as far as style goes. The company isn't usually known for dabbling into the video game arena however they have become famous for their stress-testing benchmarking software, most recently releasing high-end 3D benchmarking software for DirectX 11 video cards.
As for Unstoppable Gorg...the game doesn't quite push systems to their absolute limits but players will have a test of wit and fun to deal with. The game is similar to a traditional tower defense game, save for the that that the towers (or satellites in this case) can be moved around to stop the impending alien Gorg attack.
The game is scheduled to become available digitally for Windows PC and Mac via Steam starting January 19th for $9.99. The game is also enabled with Steamplay giving gamers the option to use one copy either on their PC or Mac.
iOS users will be able to pick up the iPad version of Unstoppable Gorg beginning January 19th for only $4.99, and Xbox Live Arcade gamers will have to wait sometime during this first-half of 2012 before being able to play the game. No price has been set for the XBLA version but it's safe to say that it will probably be 800 MS Points.
