Avengers Lego Sets Give Us An Idea Of What Loki's Army Looks Like

Since production began on The Avengers last year we've known that Loki is the film's central villain and that he will have an army of some sorts, but what has been kept a total mystery is who the army will consist of. Even when the script was being written there was speculation that it would be the Skrulls, a race of shapeshifting aliens, but many a Marvel representative, including president Kevin Feige, has gone on record saying that is not the case. The trailers have given us brief glimpses of the destruction they cause and even their mini ships, but still the aliens themselves have not been revealed. So it's come to this.

Marvelous News has gotten their hands on a few images of new Lego sets that will be released concurrently with The Avengers and while mini-figs are never the most detailed toys in the world, these sets do give us our first "clear" look at what the army will look like.

Unless those heads are just helmets (which really isn't Lego's style), I think this means we can officially drop the Skrulls from the conversation. When drawn in the comics Skrulls are typically shown as having green skin and pointy ears, neither of which these designs have. Looks like we'll just have to wait and see what Marvel has in store for us when the movie comes out.

The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon, stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film hits theaters on May 4th and you can see more from the title in our Blend Film Database.
