Potentially MASSIVE spoilers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its massive scale, thanks to new projects in theaters and streaming with a Disney+ subscription. Additionally, Marvel is known for its tight security, with the studio going to great lengths to guard the secrets of each new release. Unfortunately things still happen, and somebody seemingly spoiled a major reveal at last night's LA premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And it's already going viral.

Brand New Day's trailer saw Spidey interact with characters like The Hulk and The Punisher, arguably the biggest mystery of the movie is who Sadie Sink is playing. But at the premiere in LA, recording artist Steve Lacy (whose music is featured in the upcoming Marvel movie) seemingly revealed who Sink will be. When asked which character he was excited about seeing on the big screen, the "Oh Yeah?" singer said:

You know what? Jean. I like Jean. She's the villain but like there's a reason to her madness. I like her character, I don't know why.

While he didn't drop Sink's name during this response, folks online are taking this as a confirmation that the Stranger Things alum is indeed playing the beloved mutant Jean Grey. That role was famously played by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner in the X-Men movies, and it seems like she's finally going to join the MCU in Destin Daniel Cretton's new Spider-Man movie. Boy, I'd hate to be Lacy's publicist this morning.

While this isn't an official confirmation that Sadie Sink is playing Jean Grey, it's hard not to connect the dots here. That's been the most popular fan theory about her role, so the name being dropped it definitely turning heads. You can see Steve Lacy's comments below:

Luckily for fans who spent years watching the Marvel movies in order, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will gets its wide release in just a few days. So we'll be able to see wether or not Sadie Sink is actually playing Jean Grey. If so, she'll presumably reprise that role in the developing X-Men movie from Jake Schreier.

Fan know that Tom Holland has a habit of accidentally revealing Marvel spoilers, but this time he wasn't responsible for (possibly) revealing Sadie Sink's role. For her part, the actress hasn't had any difficulty keeping her character under wraps, although those efforts might have been ruined just days before the blockbuster's release. I guess that's just a hazard of this genre and shared universe in particular.

All will be revealed when Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31st as part of the 2026 movie release list. The movie's stakes feel high after No Way Home's ending, and especially if the movie will help set up the MCU's new X-Men.
