Conan The Barbarian To Destroy On Blu-Ray In November

Though Conan the Barbarian earned a decent review here at Cinema Blend, it failed to find the hard R loving audience it needed elsewhere. That may be unsurprising, since the trailer was such a trainwreck; however, with Jason Momoa on board as Conan, it seemed like the type of violent, overtly oversexed project Game of Thrones lovers might show up for.

It isn’t too late. Lionsgate is bringing Conan the Barbarian to a whole slew of formats on November 22. Conan the Barbarian will be available on 3D Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, DVD, digital download and On Demand. Lionsgate is really pushing the 3D combo package (3D Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital copy), selling it for $39.99, which is only two dollars more than 2D Blu-Ray disc ($37.99). I guess that’s pretty nice for the 3D TV owners; however, it sort of reminds me of when I go to McDonald’s and they have a buy one, get one for ten cents deal on ice cream sundaes – sure, it's a great deal, but who needs all the extra crap?

To get back to Conan, special features are subject to change; however, DVD, as well as 2 and 3D copies will come with the same extras. Thus far, Lionsgate is reporting commentary from director Marcus Nispel, Rose McGowan, and Jason Momoa will be included. Two fitting featurettes on Robert E. Howard and the creation of the Conan character will be available. Two featurettes on staging the action and engineering the battles will round out the bonus features.
