Did you love The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe? Can’t wait for the next chapter to come out? Well, save the date: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will set sail May 1st, 2009.
Wait a minute: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third chapter in the Narnia series. So what happened to the second story, Prince Caspian? Well, that story, currently in production, is still slated for a May 16th, 2008 release date.
The news, courtesy of Coming Soon, reveals Disney’s plans to continue the franchise regardless of the success of each movie. Of course, considering the success of the first film, someone would really have to mess things up for there to be a reason not to produce all of the stories in the series. Heck, they might as well go ahead and set release dates for all of the movies. After all, after the initial sequel, there are less characters that carry from book to book. They should just go ahead and produce all of the movies and release them months apart.
Other release dates revealed from Walt Disney Productions: a Pixar movie titled Up is slated for June 19th, 2009, and a Jerry Bruckheimer adaptation of the video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time scheduled for July 10th, 2009.
