The First Guardians Of The Galaxy Trailer Is Here And It's Incredible

I have been waiting for this moment for approximately six months, 28 days and six hours. Last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, I was one of the thousands of people packed into the San Diego Convention Center’s famous Hall H for the Marvel Studios panel and got to watch the world premiere of the first ever footage from James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. My mind was absolutely blown, and I have spent the time since craving more.

But now the time has come and the wait is over. People, may I present to you the first ever theatrical trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy.

We were first teased about this spot exactly one week ago when the running time of the trailer was announced, and that bit of news only grew in the days that followed, the preview’s release date then getting leaked. It was all leading to this. This evening, actor Chris Pratt was a special guest on the late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and during his appearance he debuted the trailer you’ll find in the embed above.

Both written and directed by Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy stars Pratt as Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, a half-human, half-alien who was taken from Earth when he was a kid and has spent all of his life being a Han Solo-esque badass surfing the cosmos in his spaceship. His life takes a hard left turn, however, when he discovers that he has become the target of a bounty hunt due to a mysterious orb that he stole. Trailed by the dangerous alien Ronan The Accuser (Lee Pace) and the deadly assassin Nebula (Karen Gillan), he has no choice but to create an agreement with a group of galactic weirdos like himself: Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Groot (Vin Diesel), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista). Also part of the outstanding ensemble cast is Michael Rooker as Yondu, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Glenn Close as Nova Prime, Peter Serafinowicz and Gregg Henry.

Like me, I know a lot of you have been incredibly excited for this trailer, so it begs the question: is it what you expected it to be? What do you think about the characters? Do you like the look of the visual effects? Do you think Marvel made the right choices in casting? What are you most excited to see next from the film? We’re just as excited to talk about it as you are, so answer our poll, tell us what you think in the comments section, and stay tuned for more of our coverage!
