Harrison Ford Thinks Star Wars Reunion Is Happening And Is Delighted
Harrison Ford is just beginning the promotional push for 42, the Jackie Robinson biopic that casts the Hollywood icon as Branch Rickey, the man who first signed Robinson to a major league contract. While he'll likely have plenty to say about the historical figure, heís going to have to expect more than his fair share of Star Wars and Anchorman 2 questions as well, as both projects come with a built-in level of deafening buzz. For instance, Ford walked a red carpet on behalf of a conservation he's supporting and talked to a Chicago journalist at WGN about the possibility that the whole "gang" is going to participate in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII, as has been rumored.
ďI think itís almost true,Ē Ford said after a thoughtful pause. ďIím looking forward to it. Itís not in the bag yet, but I think itíll happen, and Iím delighted.Ē
Damn. Thatís about as close as weíve gotten to a confirmation to the countless rumors swirling around the Star Wars stratosphere. Shouldnít a press rep for Disney and/or LucasFilm come out with a statement that nips a few of the wild rumors in the bud? Then Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Ford wonít have to field endless inquiries from rabid fans begging for a Star Wars reunion.
Hereís what we know so far: Abrams is directing Star Wars: Episode VII, which is being penned by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3). When it was first announced it was said the movie would be in theaters by 2015 Ö but that may not necessarily happen. This is the first sign of life the Star Wars franchise has had in decades. Theyíre not going to rush it, whether they have Ford in ďthe bagĒ or not.
