When Joaquin Phoenix announced he was quitting acting, we all kind of laughed and brushed it off and figured we'd see him in time for Walk the Line 2. Then when Casey Affleck insisted Joaquin was doing it, he has "music and stuff" and will follow that, we felt a little uncomfortable, but still assumed this was a lot of Hollywood hot air.
Oh, how young and foolish we were. Not only is the younger Affleck sticking up for Joaquin's musical choices, he'll make a documentary about Phoenix's music career.... as a rapper. The Hollywood Reporter says, with a completely straight face, that Phoenix's first live performance is tonight at a Las Vegas club, and Affleck will use the occasion to kick off his documentary filmmaking.
There are really no words to capture how insane this is, and I imagine you're all coming up with your own exclamations of "WTF????" as we speak. I mean... yeah. I'm just going to have to take a lie-down and deal with this on my own terms.
