The upcoming con drama Focus tells the story of a veteran con-man who finds himself in a complicated situation when he becomes romantically entangled with a young female grifter. Their time together is messy and disastrous, and causes complications when they meet up again in the future. Early last month we got word that Warner Bros. was talking to Ben Affleck about the male lead in the movie, but now it seems as though they’ve found his female counterpart – and it’s a name you’ll recognize.

Variety has learned that Kristen Stewart is now in talks to join Affleck in Focus. The film will be the latest directorial effort from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who released Crazy, Stupid, Love last year. Originally Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were going to reunite for the con artist film, but those plans didn’t pan out. According to the trade, WB was quick to cast Affleck before he could find any other post-Argo plans.

With the Twilight franchise coming to a close later this month it will be interesting to see how Stewart’s career moves forward. Walter Salles’ adaptation of On The Road will be getting a limited release in the United States on December 21st and there’s been talk of a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, but that situation has been messy ever since it was revealed that she had an affair with the film’s director (Rupert Sanders). Beyond that Stewart doesn’t have anything lined up. Do you think she’ll do well opposite Affleck in Focus?
