Marvel Phase Two Shifts Into High Gear With Cap, Thor And Guardians Artwork

A plethora of visual goodies associated with Marvel’s Phase Two arrived online as the studio finally released the suitcase-packaged 10-disc set dedicated to Phase One and turned its attentions, full stop, to the next set of superhero movies. Phase Two officially kicks off with Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, which opens in theaters on May 3, but concept art and stills shared in the box set (and relayed via Web sites like Geek Zenith and Bleeding Cool) focus on three other features in the upcoming Marvel segment: Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is pictured above.

Because Alan Taylor has finished filming the Thor sequel (it reaches theaters in November), that movie is able to show actual stills instead of concept art. That doesn’t make them any less interesting, as we discover where The Dark World will travel to entertain audiences. In one image, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is back on Earth, this time in London:

While in another image, Jane (Natalie Portman) has found her way to Asgard. How? That will have to be answered in the sequel:

Guardians of the Galaxy is more of a mystery. The characters in this science-fiction book aren’t quite the household names of Captain America, Iron Man or Thor. But director James Gunn seems to be going after a Star Wars vibe with these concept images shared as Marvel fires up this one-off feature:

And then there’s The Winter Soldier, the further adventures of Chris Evans’ Captain America who, after The Avengers, still finds himself out of his element … and out of his era. The most intriguing shot shared in the Marvel promo push shows us the design of the suit worn by Cap’s partner, The Falcon (Anthony Mackie).

And then we get a shot of Cap in action, racing to defend (or possibly attack) an aircraft carrier that is coming down in a city.

There’s a lot to process as Marvel ramps up Phase Two. At the moment, which of the Phase Two movies are you most excited for? Mine’s The Winter Soldier, but all of the films look fantastic. Share your thoughts below.
