Eddie Murphy is set to play a walking, talking spaceship in the new movie Starship Dave. The way Variety describes it, it sounds like someone is remaking Innerspace or re-adapting the failed TV show 'Micro-cops' and trying to hide the similarities.

The movie is being called a "fish out of water" story. The plot concerns a crew of miniature aliens (who look like humans to save money on makeup) searching for a way to save their doomed planet. Eddie plays their mode of transportation and captain: a human spacecraft.

Shaggy Dog remaker Brian Robbins is set to direct, with production ramping up in March. He replaces Peter Segal, who had previously been at the helm until he jumped ship to do Get Smart.
