Those eagerly awaiting the feature adaptation of Veronica Roth's Divergent will want to tune in to ABC tonight for Jimmy Kimmel Live, as the film's new trailer is set to debut during the late night talk show. In the meantime, Summit released the above teaser, which gives us about fifteen seconds of footage from the film, most -- if not all -- of which looks new.
Among some of the highlights in the teaser, we have birds attacking Shailene Woodley's Tris...
This Hitchcockian nightmarish scene fittingly leads into Theo James' Four talking to Tris about fear...
Tris might be haunted by birds, but those who've read Roth's book know how Four feels about heights...
Summit says they'll be debuting the full trailer on Jimmy Kimmel Live -- which airs at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC -- and the trailer is expected to start circulating online until tomorrow.
Based on Roth's novel, Divergent is set in dystopian Chicago where society is broken up into five factions, which determine how people live their lives. Woodley's character Tris learns that she's "Divergent," which means she'll never fully fit into any one faction. This information comes to her just before she chooses her new faction and begins training. In addition to James and Woodley, the cast includes Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson and Jail Courtney, the latter of whom I think might have been partially glimpsed in the final moments of the teaser, but it's hard to tell.
While we wait for the new trailer to arrive, here's the previously released trailer:
And a cool Tris and Four promotional image that Summit released on their Facebook page.
There's also a clip, which you can watch here. Divergent arrives in theaters March 21.
