Whoops. Hollywood insider Nikke Finke may be known for her exclusives, but her latest exclusive is somebody else’s.
Finke reports that her sources at Sony tell her that Spider-Man 4 & 5 may be shot back to back. One wonders if her sources at Sony might be a website called Cinematical, which exclusively reported precisely the same story to everyone in the world way back in May.
In Finke’s defense… these things happen. It seems likely that she simply missed Cinematical’s report in May (and in fact, so did we until Cinematical’s Erik Davis sent us a reminder earlier tonight) and received the story via independent sources of her own. Finke does add a few new wrinkles to the scoop as well. For instance she says Mary Jane will be back in the movie, and that Sony has locked up both Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi to return.
Happily, it also looks like Spider-Man will be the one franchise not to fall prey to Dark Knight copycatting, and will resist the temptation to go dark. In fact, black Spider-Man is gone entirely. For more, check out both Finke and Cinematical’s stories.

Too bad no one will care about Spiderman by the time they get made.
