MOVIE NEWS
Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell, the smash hit video game inspired by Tom Clancy, will get a movie version soon. Peter Berg (Rundown & Friday Night Lights) will direct and co-write the movie for Paramount Pictures. Mr. Berg is an adequate director. He isn’t going to give you anything groundbreaking but he usually makes a decent flick. He’s a safe bet for a movie genre that hasn’t exactly had a stellar box office history.
Now most movies based on video games suck. Despite what Josh Tyler thinks, Super Mario Bros. is included in this condemnation. ;) Splinter Cell features the character of spy Sam Fisher as he infiltrates different terrorist organizations. However, this could work with the right story and cast. Cast a great actor as Fisher, and we could have an interesting spy movie. Cast Brendan Fraser, and video gamers everywhere will weep. ![]() Got a comment? . |
