I'll admit, I was a little skeptical about War Horse at first. Steven Spielberg's talents go unquestioned, but I wasn't sure I cared to sit through a sprawling story of friendship between a boy and a horse set against the backdrop of World War I. It almost sounds like one of the fake movies they made up for Seinfeld. Well, maybe I'm just a sucker for a good trailer, but War Horse has won me over, and this latest trailer is no different. This one features various cast members telling us what they think the movie is all about, but the real draw is still those stunning, epic visuals. Take a look:



Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse was adapted by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot) and Richard Curtis (Pirate Radio). And, of course, it was directed by Spielberg. It's precisely the sort of epic story that Spielberg excels at telling, and with a Christmas Day release, it's perfect poised to lure in families stuffed with food and looking to kill a few hours in a nice, warm theater. Of course, Spielberg will also be facing off against himself, since The Adventures of Tintin opens that same week. Which Spielberg will triumph? Only one will be left standing! Okay, no, both of them will probably make a shit-ton of money.
