Warner Bros. Going 3D![]()
It seems as if Warner Bros. (via Coming Soon) has just outright ignored the irritated musings of the Cinema Blend staff and gone ahead making a bunch of movies 3D for no good reason. Apparently our well educated rant wasn’t enough to dissuade the Hollywood big shot from releasing many of their upcoming blockbusters with uncomfortable polarized glasses.
Claiming that people are embracing RealD and IMAX overpricing, Warner Bros. President Dan Fellman can smell the cash flowing in already. "We are experienced and have been successful in the conversion of 2D to 3D going back to such hits as The Polar Express, select scenes in Superman Returns and the last two Harry Potter films.” That’d be all fine and dandy had The Polar Express made a profit domestically, and if Superman Returns hadn’t succeeded in totally sinking that franchise. The first film you’ll be able to hopefully avoid having to pay the extra money to see will be Clash of the Titans whose release date has been pushed back to April 2nd to accommodate the 3Difying. Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Zack Snyder’s animation debut Guardians of Ga’Hoole, and the final installments of the Harry Potter series will also be forced upon you like that uncool kid at lunch who no one has the heart to tell is just not invited to the table. I’ll refrain from beating 3D with my endless wit for now, but if you’d like to know why we here at CB think it’s a bad idea, check out our rant from earlier this week. |
