Lindsay Lohan may have successfully completed ninety days in a lockdown rehabilitation facility without even the slightest whisper of an incident, but that doesn’t mean she’s in the free and clear yet. In fact, the director of Cliffside Malibu sent a letter to the judge in her probation case strongly recommending she be forced into weekly counseling sessions to make sure she stays on the straight and narrow.

According to TMZ, the letter asked for three fifty-minute therapy sessions a week and promised “almost certain failure” if Linday was released without any oversight whatsoever. Fortunately or unfortunately, we won’t get to see what would happen without any oversight because Judge Dabney took the letter’s recommendation, basically following it completely. For the next sixteen months, Lindsay will be required to see a counselor three days a week. When she’s in town, the meetings will be done face-to-face, and when she’s out of town, the meetings will be conducted over Skype.

Obviously, that’s not a full proof system for keeping someone from relapsing, but it’s certainly better than just opening the doors and letting them fly out, especially in Lindsay’s case. This isn’t her first time at the rehab rodeo, but by all accounts, it is the hardest she’s ever worked while inside to help change her thinking patterns and her behavior. As such, she’s needs to get into a routine and maintain accountability so she never wavers because God only knows what the next downward spiral could cost her. We might be talking total career annihilation.

Lohan herself wasn’t in court today, but considering how determined she reportedly is to stay sober, it’s hard to imagine some checks and balances would bother her. Besides, she knows herself as well as anyone. Her history of staying sober isn’t exactly great; so, she should be more than willing to try any new system that might yield more fruitful results.

In the coming days and weeks, Lohan is scheduled to guest host Chelsea Lately, sit down with Oprah Winfrey and head back to Long Island with her mother. As such, she’s sure to be extremely busy, but considering her situation, that’s probably not the worst thing in the world. There are few things worse for someone trying to stay sober than complete boredom.

Over the next sixteen months, Lohan will reportedly check in with the court about once a month to submit documentation that she’s regularly attending her counseling sessions. Next November, there will be a full hearing to make sure everything went according to plan, and assumedly, her counselors will submit reports to the court at that time. Hopefully, when they do, it will be nothing but rosy reports for the actress who will, by then, have gotten her career back on track and some of the goodwill she lost from the general public.
