Utah Woman Admits To Murdering 6 Infants

I can't imagine harming a child. My nieces and nephew are probably my favorite humans on the planet. And who doesn't love a cuddly, cute toddler? When someone harms children, it's particularly upsetting to me and an overwhelming majority of people, which is why pretty much the entire world, myself included, is furious over what one woman in Utah allegedly did.

According to USA Today, Megan Huntsman, 39, was arraigned on Monday on six counts of murder. The accused allegedly admitted to police that she suffocated at least seven babies, stuffed them into cardboard boxes and then hid them in her garage. The bodies were discovered by her ex husband, Darren West, when he was cleaning the space. Each infant was wrapped in a towel or shirt then placed into a baggie and then a box.

The story gets even more bizarre as it seems all of the infants were Huntsman's own children. She claims that she gave birth seven times in her home and all but one of the infants were born alive. After they were born, she said she suffocated the babies and boxed them up. Authorities believe that West and Huntsman were together at the time of at least some of the murders, but apparently West had no clue his then wife was pregnant. The couple already have three older daughters ranging from ages 13-20, who also lived in the home and somehow didn't notice either. Neighbors and friends are equally as confused and say Huntsman never showed that she was expecting.

People being put on trial for allegedly harming their own children is nothing new. People can be so quick to act in violence when situations get difficult or they feel stressed. And with mental health issues affecting almost anyone it's hard to say what exactly drove Huntsman to kill her newborns. One thing is for sure, this crime is absolutely heartbreaking.

Authorities are still looking for more answers and are trying to piece this crazy story together and get to the bottom of what actually happened. It's possible that there could be more evidence uncovered that turns the whole thing upside down. Personally, I hope that Huntsman gets some kind of psychiatric care she clearly needs while serving her sentence, and that her daughters can find some kind of closure. Having a parent suddenly go from mom to murderer and then losing at least six siblings can't be easy. I wish nothing but the best for those three, and I'll probably give my younger family members an extra hug next time I see them.
