Watch Some Of Detroit's Craziest 2012 Blazes Through A Fireman's Helmet Camera

Most people have a healthy respect for firefighters and the bravery required to do the job, but when it comes to what those men and women in uniform actually confront on a day-to-day basis, I’m not sure a high percentage understand the true horror. I thought I did until I watched a video chronicle of a Highland Park, Michigan fireman’s 2012. Apparently, I don’t even know half of what those heroes go through.

The fireman in question works around the Detroit area and is apparently apt to wear a helmet cam more often than not when he heads out for a job. Last week, he went through all the footage from the previous twelve months and created an eight plus minute highlight tape compiling the most adrenaline-fueled parts. Go ahead and take a look through his eyes by watching the clip below…

The most impressive thing to me about this video is the footage of the guys inside burning houses hammering away. It’s one thing to stand next to a home with a giant hose and act like a conduit. It’s quite another to throw yourself in the middle of the action and mess with a property’s foundation to try and stop the flames from moving. Luckily, there are plenty of people like this guy who have signed up to protect us and are willing to do whatever it takes.

Here’s to hoping this dude has a more relaxing 2013 filled with cats who need to be taken down from trees.
