The Defenders Is Adding Another Iron Fist Character

Coming to Netflix in 2017, The Defenders has recently started revealing the slew of characters from across all four solo Netflix series that will play a part in the show. Fans are of course familiar with the biggest supporting characters from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, but Iron Fist is still a big mystery. We don't know very much about all the characters in that show, but at least one of them has already been deemed worthy enough to represent the series in The Defenders. Danny Rand (Finn Jones) will be joined by Jessica Henwick's fellow martial artist Colleen Wing.

Following the pattern for the previous announcements, The Defenders Twitter account has released a promo video revealing that Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing will be joining the fight. We haven't seen too much footage of Colleen in action outside of a brief snippet in a trailer, and this tweet gives us our first taste of just what she is capable of. If the look of pain on the face of that man she's beating up is any indication, then Colleen can more than hold her own.

Colleen Wing is an experienced martial artist who is a frequent ally of Iron Fist. We don't know much about her character in the show, but it seems like she likes to spend her free time in cage matches. Her name was briefly glimpsed on a flyer for martial arts lessons that was taken by Claire Temple in Luke Cage.

With Colleen officially joining the ever-growing cast of The Defenders, fans are almost guaranteed that she will meet her other half, Misty Knight. Misty made her live-action debut just a few months ago in Luke Cage and will be appearing in The Defenders. In the comics, Misty and Colleen are something of the female equivalent of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The two of them form their own private detective agency together and are frequent allies of Heroes for Hire. Because of their shared proficiency in martial arts, the two of them are known as the Daughters of the Dragon.

Jessica Henwick joins a cast that seems to be growing by the day. In addition to the four leads of Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand (Finn Jones), the show will also feature the return of (takes deep breath) Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), Malcolm Ducasse (Eka Darville), Trish Walker (Rachel Taylor), Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Stick (Scott Glenn), and of course, Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson). Oh, and Sigourney Weaver's mysterious villain character who brings the Defenders together.

The Defenders isn't coming out until some ime in late 2017, but you can see Colleen Wing much sooner when Iron Fist drops on March 17, 2017. To learn about which other shows are premiering then check out the CinemaBlend 2017 midseason premiere schedule.
