Further Evidence Oliver Queen Is About To Become Green Arrow

Arrow’s Oliver Queen is remarkably similar to the DC Comics character he’s named after. He has the playboy background, he has the emerald uniform and, of course, he fights crime using a bow and arrow. However, there’s one thing that’s been missing from the ensemble for the past three years: a certain color. Fortunately for fans, it’s looking more likely that Oliver will finally become Green Arrow in Season 4, judging by the name of the first episode.

On the last day of San Diego Comic-Con, executive producer Marc Guggenheim tweeted the cover sheet of the Arrow Season 4 premiere. The episode will be titled “Green Arrow,” and is currently filming until July 23.

Oliver’s transition to becoming Green Arrow has was first teased shortly after Season 3 ended when Stephen Amell stated that he wouldn’t be wearing the Arrow costume anymore, saying that “The Arrow is done.” This claim was verified when The CW released a promotional image on this past Saturday that showed off Oliver’s new uniform, which is an interesting blend of his previous outfit and the classic Green Arrow suit.

Longtime viewers will remember in Season 1 when Malcolm Merlyn suggested that Starling City’s vigilante, then called The Hood, should call himself Green Arrow. Fortunately, it appears the show is finally giving its fans the real deal and having Oliver embrace being the superhero he was always meant to be. Now if we could only get more unusual trick arrows.

After riding off into the sunset with Felicity in the Season 3 finale, Season 4 will have Oliver returning to Starling City for unknown reasons, though it may have something to do with his sister Thea. This season will feature Team Arrow going up against former League of Assassins member Damien Darhk and his organization H.I.V.E. Other new characters include the Batman adversary Anarky and the tech-based superhero Mr. Terrific, who should be in good company with Ray Palmer, a.k.a. The Atom. Season 4 will also delve more into the world of magic, both in the present day storyline and Oliver’s flashbacks.

Arrow Season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, October 7 in its normal timeslot on The CW.
