Is Hawkeye About To Cameo On Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Jeremy Renner spent a good chunk of last year suiting up as Hawkeye for the production of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it seems hasn’t wasted any time getting back into the costume in 2015. Apparently the actor put on the garb for something that was shooting earlier today – and we think it may be an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

This bit of news comes to us from Jeremy Renner’s personal WhoSay account, where the actor posted an artistic silhouette image of Hawkeye along with the message:

Tues morn. I find myself in costume again. I just can't tell you why. And it still fits! #marvel #avengers #hawkeye

As you can imagine, the post has already generated plenty of speculation in regards to exactly what the actor is up to. As of now, the only official Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance the star is scheduled for in the future is his key part in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. His tone and word choice don’t suggest that this is merely a part of doing reshoots on the blockbuster sequel, so what could he be up to? There is a good deal of evidence suggesting that he could be filming sequences for Marvel’s flagship television series.

So what makes us think that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye a.k.a. Clint Barton could soon be uop for an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? For starters, the show has already looped in key big screen Marvel Cinematic Universe players in the past – including Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury (twice), Cobie Smulder’s Maria Hill, Jaimie Alexander's Sif, and Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter (also twice) – so it’s not exactly far-fetched that Marvel could work out a special TV deal with Renner. Plus, it makes all kinds of sense that he would appear on the show simply because he himself was previously an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. (until the whole thing was taken down by a HYDRA infestation.

The only thing that would really stop this theory dead in its tracks is if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wasn’t back in production following its hiatus, but The Cavalry herself, Ming-na Wen, confirmed the start of shooting this week on her Twitter page this past Sunday:

Given this evidence, we’re about 90% sure on this theory – but, naturally, we don’t really have any further details beyond it. What could Jeremy Renner be up to on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., other than start setting up the events of The Avengers: Age of Ultron? Hopefully we’ll get some answers in the coming weeks.
