Nashville Receives A Full Season Order At ABC

Nashville's ratings have certainly slipped since the ABC drama series' strong premiere, however it looks like things are starting to settle in for the show and it seems ABC is up for more. The network has given the freshmen series an order for the back nine episodes, which means a full first season for Nashville!

Nashville focuses on a number of characters involved in Nashville's country music scene, including Connie Britton's Rayna James, a talented and successful musician whose best days as a country star may be behind her. Hayden Panettiere plays Juliette Barnes, the up and coming country star with a ton of personal drama that may hold her back. The series premiered to an audience of nearly nine million, but those numbers dipped down a bit, dropping as low as 5.74 million viewers for the fourth episode, but seeing a slight increase with 6.07 million viewers tuning in for last week's episode.

TVLine posted tonight that the series received a full season order at ABC. Nashville joins The Neighbors and Scandal among the recent ABC series to receive full season orders.

The appeal of Nashville is split between the drama and the music. The drama is marked largely by the ambition of many of the cast members, whose lives and work are intertwined. And the music, some of which is pretty good (and made available to purchase and download on iTunes) puts Nashville among shows like Glee and Smash in bringing a musical twist to the drama. Fans of the series are likely to be thrilled that the series is sticking around.
