Sci Fi Gets Busy With Unfinished Business NBC Universal announced today that the network is partnering with James Lassiter, Will Smith and Ken Stovitz through their company Overbrook Entertainment to put together a 2-hour backdoor pilot called Unfinished Business. It’s written by Iron Jawed Angels’ Sally Robinson and will be directed by Mikael Salomon, who was behind Band of Brothers, The Andromeda Strain and The Company.

Here’s the premise as listed by NBC Universal:

“Unfinished Business is the story of an ex cop, who after a brain injury, finds himself experiencing flashes of memories from the recently deceased. The experiences compel him to help these lost souls resolve their unfinished business.”

Now, correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t watch either of these shows but doesn’t this sound a lot like Ghost Whisperer and Medium? I guess the "flashes of memories" thing sets this one apart from the previous two shows, which as far as I know, focus on a character who actually interacts with the deceased. Still, the premise is interesting enough in a Sixth Sense sort of way and this definitely goes along with Sci Fi… err, Syfy’s plan to branch out towards other areas like the paranormal. Plus, the people behind this pilot are all well-established, so there’s that going for it.
