Alright guys, I think it’s time to admit that Shonda Rhimes is kind-of a superwoman. The powerful TV mogul has three—count ‘em—TV shows airing on network television this fall, but despite her busy schedule, the writer, showrunner and producer has decided to delve into the world of acting, as well. On Monday, it was confirmed that Rhimes will appear on an upcoming episode of Fox’s comedy, The Mindy Project.

Rhimes teased the news a few weeks ago via her Twitter account, noting that while she doesn’t really have a background in acting, it’s been a big dream of hers to appear on the other side of the camera for quite a while.

At the time, we didn’t really know what to expect from Rhimes’ performance, but now TV Line is reporting that Rhimes will be playing a version of herself, popping up on The Mindy Project as a beer pong champion. The outlet speculates that she’ll appear in an episode devoted to Dartmouth Reunion Week, which makes sense, considering the tweet that writer and actor Ike Barinholtz released earlier this week, which features Shonda and the guys in Dartmouth colors.

It’s cool that Rhimes is finally getting the opportunity to act in a TV series, but it’s also a little odd that this hasn’t happened for her anytime in the past decade. If Rhimes really wanted to act, it weirds me out that she never wrote herself a bit part on any of her shows. Maybe getting to play herself on The Mindy Project is the most important part of the gig? Whatever the reason, we’re excited to catch her episode this fall. Fox’s The Mindy Project will premiere on Tuesday, September 16 at 9:30 p.m. ET, following the premiere of New Girl.
