Supergirl: Melissa Benoist's Real-Life Husband Will Play Her Onscreen Love Interest

Supergirl has had some pretty fabulous casting choices so far, but today the show might have just done the coolest thing ever when the CBS drama decided to sign on former Glee actor Blake Jenner. Not only did he and Supergirl lead Melissa Benoist formerly star on the Fox high school-set series, they also both happen to be married to each other. Here’s what we know about the upcoming appearance.

First and foremost, not only are Benoist and Blake Jenner actually married in real life, but on Supergirl, Jenner’s character, Adam Foster, will actually play another potential love interest for Kara Danvers. Don’t you just love it when fiction imitates reality?

We don’t know a ton about Jenner’s big debut, yet, but TV Line Adam Foster will be a “handsome stranger” and he will also connect with Kara in an unexpected way. However, his appearance will also cause the relationship between Cat and Kara to be strained in some mysterious manner.

This isn’t the first time Jenner and Benoist has shared an onscreen romance, as their two characters were also involved on Glee through parts of the show’s run, although they ultimately didn’t end up together. However, it’s probably the first time Jenner’s had to deal with so much competition when attempting to attract the leading lady. Our superheroine has a ton of potential romances, or at least flirtations, cooking week in and week out, including her friends Winn Schott and James Olsen (although reportedly there’s nothing going on with the latter character).

Jenner is most famous for his role on Glee, notably because he actually competed on the reality competition series The Glee Project before landing the big gig. Other roles the actor has taken include a guest starring gig on Melissa and Joey and a role in the upcoming Richard Linklater film Everybody Wants Some.

Blake Jenner isn’t the only big guest appearance this season. True Blood’s Brit Morgan popped up in the most recent episode of CBS’ Supergirl after the episode was aired early after the Paris attacks. In addition, Revenge actor Henry Czerny has been signed on, as has The Transporter star Chris Vance. To add even more names to this list, Peter Facinell, Chris Browning and Justice Leak will all play big adversaries during Season 1, so there’s a lot to look forward to. New episodes of Supergirl air on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, only on CBS.
