New Year's Eve With Carson Daly Boasts Train And Cassadee Pope

NBC’s a little late to the party, but on Monday, the network finally announced it’s lineup for an epic New Year’s Eve celebration. Carson Daly is set to host and The Office’s Angela Kinsey will bring reports from Times Square. Additionally, a slew of names have been added to the program to bring fans singing performances as well as cute clips from some NBC regulars.

Headlining New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly will be the band Train, who plan to sing “Mermaid,” as well as randomly give a rendition of John Lennon’s famous song, "Imagine." The Voice Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope will also perform live during the special. Instead of spending all night with music, NBC also plans to cut to some special segments with The Voice’s Season 3 judges (yes, that means Christina and Cee Lo), some of the cast of Parks and Recreation and Parenthood, and even some wisdom from Celebrity Apprentice’s Donald Trump and late night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jay Leno.

The lineup hardly beats Ryan Seacrest and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, a spectacular that will feature Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepson, but it does take a new angle with all of the NBC regulars involved. On top of this, NBC has a “Musical Retrospective” segment planned. All of this sounds far better than Fox’s show, which will sport Phillip Phillips and Carmen Electra, but ultimately, you should tune in to the program that most suits your taste.

Broadcasting from Times Square, NBC’s special will run from 10-11 p.m. ET and then will pick up again, running from 11:30-12:30 p.m. ET.
