How Pokemon Go's Egg Event Will Change Hatching
It's Easter weekend, so you better believe Niantic is celebrating the occasion with an "Eggstravaganza" event within the popular mobile game, Pokemon Go.
There's only one thing better than walking around on Easter, hunting for brightly decorated eggs; and that's hatching special eggs in Pokemon Go at the same time. Now that we think about it, Easter is basically the perfect holiday for an in-game celebration in Pokemon Go, as eggs have been an integral part of the game world since the very beginning.
The Eggstravaganza event, according to the developer, is ongoing and will be available through 1 p.m. PDT on April 20. That's next Thursday, in case you're bad with calendars. Like in the standard Pokemon games, players are able to collect and hatch eggs in Pokemon Go simply by throwing them in an incubator and walking around for a set distance. That's always been a mechanic in the mobile game, but Niantic is changing things up a bit for this next week. In short, a greater variety of Pokemon will be hatched out of the 2 km eggs, which allow you to get more Pokemon for the shortest available distance. In other words, they want you grabbing and hatching eggs in rapid succession, perfect for a weekend when you were possibly planning to be out and about anyway.
According to fans, the 2K eggs are hatching a pretty nice collection of Pokemon including Aerodactyl, Eevee, Dunsparce, Elekid, Girafarig, Grimer, Growlithe, Koffing, Lapras, Larvitar, Lickitung, Magby, Miltank, Onix, Phanpy, Rhyhorn, Scyther, Shellder, Shuckle, Skarmory, Smoochum, Sneasel, Stantler, Sudowoodo, Tangela, Tyrgue, Wobboffet and Wooper.
We're happy to hear even more Pokemon will be available in the most common eggs, and we're sure that goes double for folks who are tired of hatching the same critters time and time again. Also, what would an Easter celebration be like without oodles of candy? Every time you hatch an egg in Pokemon Go through this event, you'll get more candy than ever before. Again, Easter is freaking perfect for this game. Candy is used to upgrade your Pokemon, so getting more delicious treats with each hatch means you'll be able to expand and improve your collection more quickly.
But that's not all! Niantic is also boosting the game's experience gain through this Eggstravaganza. You'll be able to increase your level quicker thanks to double XP. There's also a boost to the game's lucky eggs so, combine all of that, and it's a great time to go on as many walks as humanly possible these next few days.
If your bag is completely devoid of lucky eggs, Niantic is offering a helping hand there, too. Throughout the promotion, you can purchase the in-game items for half off.
