Subscribe To Sea Of Thieves Is Getting An Xbox One Bundle Updates
Microsoft and Rare are really pushing hard for Sea of Thieves. The upcoming open-world, pirate-themed, multiplayer adventure game has been building up a lot of traction leading into its release at the end of March. As a way to help convince people to purchase an Xbox console and get their hands on the game, Rare announced that there will be an Xbox One Sea of Thieves bundle pack.
Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb posted about the bundle over on the Major Nelson blog, where it was revealed that there's an Xbox One S bundle that contains a copy of Sea of Thieves. The bundle will launch alongside the game itself starting March 20th, 2018 for $299.99, the same price as the Nintendo Switch.
You'll be able to pick up the bundle from physical Microsoft Stores, or you can purchase it from e-tailers online. Select retailers from around the world will also have the units in stock.
You can also pre-order the bundle as well, which comes with a 1TB Xbox One S home console, a wireless Xbox One controller, a built-in 4K UHD Blu-ray player, which supports 4K media and streaming video content but not 4K games. It's an important distinction to make, considering that only the Xbox One X supports native 4K gaming. The Xbox One S does come with built-in support for High-Dynamic Range output for televisions that support HDR. The bundle also includes a digital download code for Sea of Thieves.
If you were expecting a full retail copy of the game in a physical package, sadly that's not happening. Microsoft and Sony have been moving away from this kind of thing lately, so it's just something you'll have to deal with if you plan on getting the bundle.
However, the bundle is sweetened with the inclusion of a free month of Xbox Live Gold that will also gain you access to the Xbox Live Games With Gold program, which gives away four free games each and every month. If you activate it on March 20th you'll have access to two of the games for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 made available at the end of March, while also gaining access to four additional games throughout the start of April. So, technically, if you get the Sea of Thieves bundle and utilize the free one-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, you'll be able to add six extra games to your Xbox Live game library. You have to admit that's not a bad deal at all.
But the bundle doesn't end there. It also includes a free month's worth of access to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass. You'll be able to try the service and play through a list of 100 games at no extra charge.
Separate from the bundle but launching right now is the special edition Xbox wireless controller themed after Sea of Thieves. The limited edition controller will be available for $74.99. The controller features a purple livery with a glow in the dark skull.
You can pre-order the Sea of Thieves Xbox One S bundle right now.
