Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix Is Only For The Japanese, Sorry Rest Of The World
The wedge between Japanese video game publishers and the rest of the world continues to widen as Square Enix has confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix scheduled to release for the PlayStation 3 will not be seeing the light of day on retailer shelves outside of Japan. That's right, start bookmarking your nearest import website because that's the only way you'll be playing the game.
According to Gematsu, they reached out to Square Enix to confirm that the game will not be releasing in any other part of the world. According to the Japanese marketing representative for Square Enix...
Too bad, eh?
Some gamers have rallied up their hopes, however, jumping to the conclusion that perhaps the announcement is simply for the Japanese market for now. They believe that perhaps there will be announcement for the game in additional markets outside of Japan closer to the game's release.
While that possibility could be likely, there's still the issue of a game like Final Fantasy Type-0 not even appearing on Square's radar for a potential North American or European release, despite the game looking drop-dead fantastic. So of course, even with all the positive media praise for a game like Final Fantasy Type-0 and Square still avoiding a release outside of Japan, what hope is there for Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix?
The game is scheduled to release for the PlayStation 3 next year, in Japan of course. The game will feature Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories with HD visuals and high-definition cutscenes.
