Today EA is releasing an HD version of arcade-style football game NFL Blitz. Blitz can be downloaded through Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Network for 1200 MS Points, or $14.99.

NFL Blitz allows you to play fast-paced 7-on-7 football games. The game features a variety of single-player and co-op modes. For example, Elite League allows you to create a dream team by collecting player cards. You can also duke it out online and claw your way to the top of the leaderboards.

“We look forward to introducing the over-the-top football action that made NFL Blitz a classic arcade hit to a new generation of gamers,” says Cam Weber, General Manager of American Football for EA SPORTS. “And we are excited to deliver to fans of the original game, the new NFL Blitz complete with online features and in high definition for the first time.”

The "digital cover athlete" for Blitz is Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice. Rice was chosen by fan voting during the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards. He beat out Roddy White and Patrick Willis for the honor. A new trailer shows in-game footage of Rice thundering into the end zone and setting on fire while he celebrates. Blitz is weird like that.
