The Order: 1886 Collector's Edition Gets Unboxed

Did you already plop down money in order to reserve your very own copy of The Order: 1886 Collector’s Edition and want to get a better look at what comes in the box? Thinking about taking the plunge, but want to see what your extra dollars will be going towards? Well, you’re in luck, as an official unboxing video has now gone live.

Unboxing videos have always been something of a mystery to me. I’d rather just tear into the thing myself whenever I get it in my hot little hands but, judging by the huge number of unboxing videos there are on Youtube and how many views said videos have, there’s no denying that there’s a big audience for this kind of content.

Knowing its audience well, Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman has been tasked with creating just such a video for upcoming The Order: 1886, giving folks a peek under the kimono as to what, exactly, they’ll be getting in the $79.99 package due out on Feb. 20.

In case a three minute video is too much for your eyes to handle, Shuman sums up the contents of the package nicely.

“The Collector’s Edition contains The Order: 1886 set in a collectible steelbook case, a 7-inch ‘Gallahad Under Fire’ statue from the folks at Takeoff, and a sticker pack,” he said. “There’s a host of digital extras, too: A downloadable soundtrack, an exclusive making-of video, plus costumes and weapon variants.”

That’s basically par for the course when it comes to these types of special editions of games, so it’s up to you if an additional 20 bucks is worth an (admittedly sweet-looking) statue, some stickers (presumably for your trapper keeper) and a bunch of digital vanity items.

I also get a kick out of how descriptions of these kinds of packages feels the need to mention that it includes a copy of the game. I would certainly hope so.

So, there you have it; all of the details on the latest uuber edition of a game. The Order: 1886 finally launches in a month, so we’re looking forward to finding out if it’s been worth the wait. One of the few known AAA PS4 exclusives for the first half of the year, the game actually has quite a bit riding on it. Here’s hoping that everything we’ve seen in all of those early looks adds up to an entertaining shooting experience.
