Red Alert 3 Gets PC Expansion

Content for a multi-platform game being released exclusively for the PC? Alright, who's been messing with the time machine? EA has announced that a new Red Alert 3 expansion, entitled Uprising, will be released this March for the PC.

The single-player expansion contains four mini-campaigns for each faction, along with an additional campaign focused on the backstory of the Empire of the Rising Sun's commando Yuriko. The expansion also comes with a new game mode called Commander Challenge which allows players to "test their skills against a set of nine commanders from different territories and difficulty levels in 50 unique challenges with their own special rules and unique conditions."

New units will be added but the number and type was unspecified in the press release. New actors will be joining the cast to complement Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic, who will be reprising their roles from RA3. EA promises to announce this new cast soon.

The game will be available via download. No pricing was mentioned but you'd assume this sounds pretty meaty so expect to pay something. Interestingly enough, it's a standalone expansion so you won't need Red Alert 3 installed to play.

Update: An EA spokesperson just informed Blend Games that they're "currently finalizing the price point, but it will definitely be priced very competitively and give gamers a great value with all the content they are getting." As far as whether or not this content will reach the Xbox 360 and (eventual) PS3 versions of Red Alert 3, they simply said that "the Red Alert team is focused on the development of Uprising for the PC, so that's all the news."
