Resident Evil 6 for home consoles garnered a lot of mixed reviews (to put it lightly) and it was coming off a time when Capcom's reputation was pretty much trying to claw its way out of the gutter. Well, Capcom found a way to completely restore trust in the Resident Evil brand and it doesn't include handing over more movie rights to Paul W.S. Anderson. Instead, they're teaming up with Gaben.
By teaming up with Gabe Newell they will instantly gain pro-karma points from the Gaben fanboys. What's more is that they're not only teaming up with Valve but they're actually taking a page out of Valve's book of pro-consumerism by making FREE content available for Resident Evil 6.
In fact, it's not just Resident Evil 6...Valve and Capcom are teaming together for Resident Evil 6 X Left 4 Dead 2, which is basically a cross-content rendition of both games, featuring the heroes from Left 4 Dead 2 as playable characters in Resident Evil 6, along with some of L4D2's enemies.
It doesn't end there, though. Left 4 Dead 2 will be receiving some of the heroes and enemies from Resident Evil 6, so you'll be able to play the characters from Capcom's popular franchise in Valve's popular franchise.
The content for both games will be made free this spring when Resident Evil 6 launches for PC on April 5th.
As a side note, the Left 4 Dead 2 characters will only be playable in the Mercenaries Mode on PC (unless modders get happy and find a way to transfer them over into the campaign mode). Each of the characters from L4D2 will also have their own arsenal and special skill set that they can employ.
This sounds like a pretty good reason to either reinstall Left 4 Dead 2 or purchase Resident Evil 6. You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
