Battling enemies with pointy objects is the name of the game in this week's PlayStation Plus update as Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny makes its way to Sony's premium service as a free download for PSP and Vita.

Announced earlier this month, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny becomes the latest in a long line of fighting games being brought to the PlayStation Plus service. When it was released a few years ago for the PSP, critics and fans alike praised the game for its slick graphics and faithful recreation of one of the most popular fighting franchises of all time, now on a console that fits in the palm of your hands.

Later this afternoon, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny will become the week's free PlayStation Plus game, available for download at no extra charge to subscribers.

The Spring Fever promotion also continues this week with the discounted release of PS3/PSV indie title, Thomas Was Alone. Bizarre platforming meets tricky puzzling in this minimalistic endeavor, available to everyone later today for $9.99. Plus subscribers, however, will see a 20 percent discount to $7.99. Don't forget that this one is a Cross-Buy game, so purchasing it on the PS3 or Vita will make it available on the other at no additional charge.
