This is 40, Judd Apatow’s midlife crisis comedy starring his two daughters and his wife, is coming to Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download fairly soon. Universal Studios is putting together the set, which will be available in hard copy in a Blu-ray combo pack or a DVD set on March 22.
I actually think the layout of the cover was really smart of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. While the movie mostly focuses on Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd and the two Apatow daughters, Maude and Iris, the lengthy film also sports a slew of guest stars, including Melissa McCarthy, Jason Segel, Megan Fox, and John Lithgow. It should be noted, however, the box is missing the always-humorous Chris O’Dowd. It should also be noted that the shot of Rudd with his pants dropped to his ankles is one for the record book, even if we got to see that image on the promotional posters.
This is 40 was billed as the “sort-of sequel to Knocked Up,” another Apatow flick. Rudd and Mann reprise their roles, this time as a couple who are hitting age 40 and still realizing life doesn’t work out perfectly, although it does work out. Parts poignant and parts humorous, the film has earned both good and bad reviews, although if you did catch the flick in theaters and happened to like it, This is 40 should have enough extras to make a purchase worthwhile. The Blu-ray, especially, will come with a bunch of exclusive bonus features, including deleted scenes, a “Making of” documentary and, of course, music segments with Graham Parker and the Rumour. Additionally, the Blu-ray combo pack will come with with a DVD, a digital copy, and UltraViolet, as well. You can check out the full list of bonus features for both sets, below.
