Ever since Marc Webb began filming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York City, a steady stream of speculation has flooded across the web (pun intended) about the fates of key characters, including Venom, The Green Goblin and Peter Parker’s love interest, Gwen Stacy. But a site has gone on record with a few rumored spoilers about the sequel's narrative that confirms something that we thought we knew about one character, and shoots down a juicy rumor swirling around another.

Stop reading right now if you don’t want to hear any Spider-Man rumors, because the following could possibly spoil what might happen in Webb’s sequel.

Still with us? Well, ComicBookMovie is saying that the earlier picture of a locker Tweeted by Webb is NOT supposed to be a reference to Venom (as some speculated), but instead will be “where [Max] Dillon is taken after his ‘accident.’” Dillon, of course, is the character set to be played by Jamie Foxx, who comic book fans know goes on to become the villain known as Electro. The source adds that he will work as an Oscorp employee, and will have a costume closer to the Ultimate Spider-Man design (which has the character looking like a human made of pure electricity) instead of the classic green and yellow costume. The rumor makes sense given that most of what Webb has been trying so far in his Spidey movies has been inspired by the Ultimate universe.

The site then goes into detail about Norman Osborn, who allegedly will NOT become the Green Goblin in part two...though there will be “LOTS of teasers and foreshadowing for the next movie.” Osborn has NOT been healed by the time the sequel begins, and continues to die slowly. But they are not going to let Norman go … especially because they’ve cast Chris Cooper in the role.

Finally, the site dropped a pretty major spoiler about the fate of Gwen, who is famously a doomed character in Spider-Man's long history. And according to CBM, she’s going to die in ASM 2, and likely before act three begins.
“Just as most of us suspected, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) will indeed check out in this film, but perhaps more surprising is that it's been hinted - note we don't know this for certain - that this won't even happen at the end, and Stone's role may not be very large at all. Like I said, that's speculation based on how the info was put across, but I personally wouldn't be surprised if Gwen buys it around the beginning of the third act, giving Spidey a reason to go off the deep end and seek revenge.”

I can’t stress enough that you need to take every single bit of this with a pile of salt grains, because it’s not coming from a studio, but rather a source speaking to a website. And the Stacy stuff is obvious, given the fact that every fan knows Gwen’s fate. But the squashing of the Venom rumor is worth sharing, because the character has been rumored to have a spin-off in the works. Stay tuned as we continue tracking Amazing Spider-Man 2, which will be in theaters on May 2, 2014.
