American Zion Trailer

In what may very well be the most confusing, frenetic and consequently boring trailer this year, the Mormon trilogy The Work and The Glory gets its second installation with American Zion. Watching it can be enjoyable if you're into guessing what the movie's really about. For even more fun, add your own voice over!

A sort of Passion of the Christ type story for the Latter Day Saints, the trilogy of movies are based on the novels by Gerald N. Lund. They follow a fictional family as they tear themselves apart following Joseph Smith around the country in his whirlwind pilgrimmage to create a new religion. American Zion is the chapter where they abandon civilization to practice their religion in a place where they hope no one will notice they all have three wives. Too bad they forgot that the Union Army had already been there harrassing native Americans for years.

The Work and The Glory barely made it to 200 theaters and there doesn't seem to be any expectation for a wider release for American Zion. Still I saw this trailer at a showing of Flightplan even though the movie will likely never make it here to my town. Maybe because my state sort of borders Utah? Supposedly it opens October 21. Don't ask me where - probably Salt Lake City.

The third movie, A House Divided, is due out next year. Maybe they'll have figured out how to make a trailer by then. While we wait, you can try to enjoy the stream of conciousness images as they flash across your screen in the trailer below. Right click to download and save.
