Ashley Greene Gets Spooky In First Look At Random

Young actresses regularly reinvent their image once they hit a certain amount of fame. Sometimes it’s a visual disasterpiece like Lindsey Lohan’s I Know Who Killed Me, and occasionally it’s pure gold, as was Jodie Foster’s performance in Taxi Driver. There’s no telling what Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers will do for Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez. Ashley Greene’s upcoming role, however, probably isn’t going to be as extreme as any of those.
Entertainment Weekly has the first shot of Greene in director Olly Blackburn’s horror-thriller Random, in which Greene plays Violet, the heavily pierced leader of a violent gang who chooses to terrorize a college student (Haley Bennett) who stays on campus during holiday break. Greene is best known for her role as Edward Cullen’s sister in the Twilight films, but Random looks like it will trade vampire melodrama for mental anguish and a probable twist ending. Check out Greene wearing what looks to be a purple hoodie, lip rings and welder’s gloves in the image below.
The EW caption says Greene did “intense research for the role,” and would have been willing to go through the piercings and physical transformations the role required. I expect a huge scar somewhere noticeable, since I assume her tortured look involves more than just a couple of lip and nose rings - all of which ended up being fake for the film. “I told them I’d be willing to get all the piercings,” Green said. “I think my mom is happy they’re not real.”
Let’s just hope the piercings aren’t the most authentic part of Random, which is set to open at some time later in 2013.
