Following the release of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer comes the official poster, which reminds us that the Avengers will assemble in 2015, and Ultron is coming...
Previously on The Avengers: Marvel promised us a trailer for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron during Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D next Tuesday. We were primed, we were ready, we had our digital catchers' mitts out and we were ready to grab the trailer and run for home. Then, out of nowhere, HYDRA got wind of SHIELD's plans and released the trailer to us early. Like earlier this evening early. Knowing their secret was out, SHIELD looked like it was defeated by HYDRA again.
That was until Marvel released the trailer to The Avengers: Age Of Ultron in beautiful HD; and even better, they decided to release the teaser poster. Before you ask, yes it is almost identical to the teaser poster we saw before 2012's The Avengers, as you'll see below.
However, upon closer inspection, this is not only a beautiful teaser poster for the coming of our robot overlord and master Ultron, it sells the heart of the movie in one, simple but intricate image. The Avengers logo has become assimilated by The Spader, and he's not satisfied with only conquering Earth's mightiest heroes, but he's coming for the rest of us as well. This is a declaration of all that you are familiar with, all that you are comfortable and solid in the knowledge of, is going to be turned and it's going to fall. And you can do nothing to stop it.
There's still a lot of things we don't know about The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but you can begin to see that those answers have started to trickle down. If the leak of the teaser trailer was a sneak attack on the currently revved DC Cinematic Continuum, the new poster is the squad of reinforcements you send in to sweep and clear hostile territory, leaving one unfortunate soul alive to tell the tale. And that tale is what's in the trailer below, because what would this story be without another chance to hear James Spader threaten the world? (Answer: ABC's current lineup.)
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron arrives in theaters on May 1, 2015; though the UK will get it earlier on April 24, 2015. Who knows if this will change if HYDRA gets their hands on an early print of the completed film. Meanwhile, if you want a nice and huge version of that glorious poster, you can click here and view it in our gallery.
