Bond Director Going After The Undead

Marc Forster is still doing his level best not to get typecast in any way. With Quantum of Solace coming out today, Forster is sticking to what seems like action-- but of the flesh-eating variety.

He's signed on to direct World War Z, the novel written by Max Brooks (son of Mel) about a zombie attack on the entire world. The movie actually takes place 10 years after the attack, with U.N. researchers interviewing people who were there to figure out the details of what actually happened. Forster told Variety, "The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the '70s like All the President's Men. " But instead of Woodward and Bernstein, I guess we get zombies? Fine by me!

J. Michael Straczynski, who wrote Changeling, is in charge of the screenplay, and while I wasn't wild about his most recent movie, anyone is worth reconsidering when they get zombies involved.
